Bad Credit and Subprime Car Leasing News & Blog

Questions & AnswersQuestion I have a car allowance of around £550 per month and was wondering if I can lease a car like the Jaguar with as little deposit as possible please and I have a bit of bad credit history, please send options to me thank.

Answer I'm afraid the Jaguar require a significant deposit. If you don't have a deposit then you can lease from one of the used cars vehicles where the terms are more flexible.

Question What cars can I have where no deposit is an option?

Answer When you say you have bad credit can you please explain this to me please?

Question Nothing serious, I just have a couple of missed payments recently, but not on the car contract or my mortgage. I need a car for work and have a car allowance of £550-00 a month I have a contact hire at the moment and am paying £480 a month but this is due to end now so need another car.

Answer Depending on what you are going to tell me about your credit history, I don't think you are going to get into a Jaguar as the price will go through the roof due to your credit score. With the budget you have you might get into a top of the range used cars Insignia, Mondeo, Passat, BMW 3, also have a couple of deals for the Mercedes A Class, even a Kuga, Unless you have some other preferences? These cars or are you open to other suggestions? So I don't open up your credit file when you say miss payments, mobile phone, credit cards or something else? and how many in a row? If you have 6 in a row that is a default which becomes more serious and harder for us to find the right funder willing to finance your car lease.

Question To be honest, it was for credit card and a loan and missed a couple in a row now agreed a repayment plan. The car was always paid that’s with Honda. I am open to any suggestions for around the £550 mark as I do need a car I could do with sat nav on it as well so just let me have any car you can get so I can have a look.

Answer I will start you off with a top of the range Insignia. Nice and powerful car with loads of extras. Then when you get contacted by the finance department, you can discuss with my colleague other cars, models and price depending on your credit score. I think £550 will get you something nice.

Question Would it be possible to get a Mercedes?

Answer Yes if there were some in stock. Sorry there are no Mercedes available at the moment and will not be an option. Don't have any approved used cars ones either. The thing is we can only lease from the approved used cars range of vehicles for bad credit and cannot lease a brand new car from a dealership. Did you know if you keep asking for quotes from dealers the more your credit score goes down. Hope you haven't been doing that.

Question I'm a banker for Mutual Finance and was wondering if you can help me? I'm looking for a vehicle with an engine size around 1.6 to 1.8, doesn't have to be an injection but must be automatic, high off the ground and easy to get in and out.

Answer The best vehicles that probably are probably the Meriva, Zafira and Focus.

Question Have any of those vehicles got the option for 7 seats?

Answer The Zafira comes with 7 seats and the Meriva comes in automatic too.

QuestionI'm thinking of leasing a car but I am not sure if I should lease it for 2 years, 3 or 4 years. Can you explain to me the difference in price?

AnswerBefore you jump into signing a 2 year agreement make sure you understand the mathematics behind a 2 year deal.

When they say 3+23 or 6+23, that means you will be paying back 26 or 29 monthly payments. Lets say the lease costs £200 a month. That would work out £5,200 or £5,800.

Now if you compare a 2 year lease with a 4 year lease it is far cheaper to lease for 4 years. Not many people know that if you lease for 4 years you can hand the car back or swap it after 2 years, where you cannot do that with a 2 year lease unless you pay a penalty.

QuestionIs it cheaper to lease over 4 years?

AnswerYes it is cheaper to lease over 4 years. If you were to lease an ex demo car that states 1+47 (which is a 4 year lease deal) you pay a deposit and 47 instalments.

A 2 year lease 3+23 over 4 years is 6+46 (if you double it) making it a total of 52 payments. If you pick a 6+23 deal then that would work out to 58 payments in total.

Where with a 4 year lease the payments with us is 1+47, a total of 48.

That is a huge 5 or 10 less payments for the same lease period.

How much more clearer can we be? Everyone saves money with us, from £1,500 to £2,500 when leasing for 4 years.

Question I was just wondering how long does it take to get a firm quote from you guys?

AnswerYou can have a quote today if you are in a hurry, but if you are looking for something out of the normal then tomorrow max. What are you after?

Question I'm looking for a Ford focus and I filled a quotation form out about an hour ago no deposit private lease 2 years and less then 10000 miles per year, max £200 a month. Cheers, does it include maintenance and road tax ? Cheers

AnswerNo the price does not include maintenance. If you are leasing an ex demo car, the road tax is for the first year, thereafter you will have to pay for it.

Question That's ok, what happens if the car needs any repairs breaks down etc

AnswerThe car will be fairly new and will not break down. If it did break down the warranty covers it. However, you have to service the car as if it was your own. If the car needs oil and oil filters ever 6,000 miles then you will have to take it to a garage of your choice and get it serviced. Normally £100 would cover that, so add that to your annual costs. Still costs far cheaper than taking a car lease with the maintenance included. I find it a bit of a rip off when companies charge extortionate prices for maintenance. Anything else you would like to know?

Question You have been very helpful, that's great thanks for everything, just need the firm quote and contact details cheers

AnswerYou have come to the right place to lease your next car.

Question I would like a long lease car for up to 36 months. I work as a community midwife and rely heavily on my car. Therefore maintenance will be essential to my quote. My annual miles are between 8-10,000. Car preferences would be: 1st- VW Golf. 2nd- BMW Hatchback. 3rd- Ford Focus. 4th- Vauxhall Astra. My budget is from £100-£190.

Answer I will resubmit your request for a Golf. Once you get contacted by my colleague, you can discuss other cars and prices. The best deals are the used cars which work out cheaper. Based on the miles you said you you, you are better to maintain the car yourself as that will save you a significant amount of money.

QuestionThank you for your prompt response. Just wanted to know about the insurance side of things. Will that be provided by Time4Leasing or do I organise that?

Answer Yes you will have to organise it. Once you know which car you are going to have from Hippo, you then take the registration number and try and get a quote for insurance from a comparison website.

Question I'm a Doctor and I was interested in the NHS car leasing and am not quite sure how it works. Im interested in a 4x4 under £350 a month for 2-5 years and 10,000+ miles. The Nissan Qashqai and Ford Kuga are the cars i'm most interested in, but I'm not sure if I should lease for 2 years or 5 years, can you help?

Answer The best prices work out better on a 4 year lease and not for 2, 3 or 5 years. However, with us you can return the vehicle back to us after 2 years without any penalties, or you can swap the car for something else or just walk away.

Question So you are saying I can lease a car from your company for 4 years and then if I like to return it I can give it back after 2 years?

Answer Yes that is correct. However, you will loose a bit of money and time as you will have to lease all over again. Most people keep the car for 4 years which isn't bad as the car is still fairly new. Anything else you would like to know

Question Can you briefly tell me know the process works?

Answer How leasing works with us is as follows:

You pick a car and set a budget as you have already done. We send you a firm quote for a specific vehicle. You either agree or pick another car. You can speak to an advisor if you wish to speed things up. You get accepted for the lease. You sign a couple of documents. Arrange delivery of car.

Then just before the lease ends you either jump into another car, give it back and walk away or sell it and use it for a deposit on your next car lease.

Note: our prices are this low because we find the best vehicles and deals in the UK and the insurance is not included which you will have to arrange once you know the reg of the vehicle.

Both Qashqai and the Kuga are available the Kuga costs a bit more but both are way under your budget.

Please let me know which one should I quote you on?

Question I have a poor credit history due to some problems a few years ago following the purchase of a house during the property crash. I am paying back credit cards on a no interest basis and have kept up these payments ok. My wages are at a reasonable level well above average. My budget would be around £250 a month and would need saloon type car. My present car has become very costly to run and looking at alternatives. Can you help me?

Answer Hi, yes we can help you. We have a special subprime finance division that can finance cars to people with poor or bad credit. The prices are a little bit higher than if you had good credit, but it is still far cheaper than taking a bank loan.

Question I'm a mortgage consultant for an independent mortgage store and was hoping to lease a Skoda estate vehicle. Have you got something for me?

Answer There are no Skoda on good lease terms I'm afraid, is this your only choice?

Question Would consider other similar vehicles. Price to be about the same. looking to lease for circa 3 years. was it because of the mileage I do?

Answer The miles are not an issue when you lease with us. I will send you a similar vehicle with better specs.

Question Would consider a 1.4 also if that helps any.

Answer An engine of 1.4 and an estate vehicle that would be one limp vehicle to drive. How about an Insignia Estate, 2 litre diesel engine. Can you stretch your budget a bit? Let me know if you like a firm quote on this vehicle or similar for less money.

Question I apologise. It seems my wife has sent me on a wild goose chase. (isn't that always the case!). It appears she has had a rethink without telling me and is now looking at a Ford focus sized car with max engine size of 1.6 but happy with 1.4. 2 kids under the age of 25(not included with the car please!) whom she may put on the insurance also. Looking to pay circa 170 max inc vat. Mileage would be 12k pa to be on the safe side. Appreciate your patience and effort.. Am in meetings for most of the afternoon so if I do not get back to you before 5 are you working tomorrow?

AnswerI will send you a quote for a Ford Focus with the latest Zetec engine, which is the best out of all the engines.

Question I am looking for dual control car to learn. I already 22 hours of driving lessons and very confident in driving. Just want to practice before taking practice test and reduce cost of driving lessons from instructor.

Answer You need to have a valid driving license to insure the car.

Question I can get insurance based on my provisional license. It is available now.

Answer You need to discuss this with an insurance company. I would expect that it will cost you thousands of pounds a year to insure a car as you have not passed your test yet. You could lease the car but have your parents as the main insurance policy holders and you as a named driver, but that still will cost you to insure. Can you find out?

Question I'm a primary care commissioning support manager and want to lease a Mercedes A class but don't want to pay a deposit, as in I want it with 0% deposit.

Answer The Mercedes A class is not a 0% deposit finance deal.

Question We are particularly keen on the new shape a class but most other sites are out of our price range. Do ex demos come available often, and what kind of price would an a class be.

Answer The A class new shape is not easy to find as an ex demo deal. We would have to wait a bit for that. The only Mercedes in stock at the moment is the M Class which is a totally different beast. If you would like something similar please view this list of ex demo vehicles which are all offered on 0% deposit finance or leasing and let me know if something else is of interest.

Question Thanks. Our current lease contract expires in November so perhaps I should get in touch nearer the time and you may have some A class approved used cars by then. There are some good deals on your ex demo page, so we will definitely contact you again.

Answer The ex demo cars that are on offer are really good. One customer wanted a Jaguar XF premium luxury model which costs £38,000 brand new from a Jaguar dealer. As an ex demo deal, 2 years and with 15k miles on the clock, the car is still practically new, now costs to buy £26,000. That is £12,000 less to pay and that makes a huge difference when leasing. This would be the same with you when leasing your car.

Question I'm a textile engineer and was looking to lease a vehicle. My budget can go up to 250£ per month. I prefer diesel and I would really need a car big enough for a family of two babies.

Answer What kind of car did you have in mind?

Question I don't mind about the car. I just need a nice, safe family car, I would prefer a 4x4 but its not my main priority. Can I rely on you?

Answer As you have just come to England from Greece, have you being living and working in the UK for at least 3 years in a row? Do you have a UK bank account, credit card and bills in your name? Are you on the electoral (can you vote) and do you have credit history? Before I send you some vehicle ideas and prices, I'm asking this info as this will determine what kind of lease we can offer you.

Question I leave in the uk the last 2 years. I can't vote but I do have credit history and a bank account in HSBC. My monthly income after taxes is around £2500.

Answer Normally you have to be living and working in the UK for 3 years minimum to be able to lease a car. I will ask my manager if we can do something for you, but it will have to be Monday as the offices are closed today.

Question Don't mind lease length my budget it around £200 a month deposits are not a problem but I have been refused car finance I'm in full time employment as a warehouse operative and would like to lease a car thanks.

Answer What kind of car did you have in mind? City type, family, hatchback, saloon? Have you any preference?

Question Hi thanks for your super fast reply, yes i would consider similar or larger vehicles and ex demos depending on mileage and age do you have a list of available vehicles and prices ? hope to hear from you soon.

Answer Try looking at the ex demo list or the 0% deposit list of current cars in stock - the cars available are featured in the middle of the page. There are some more vehicles listed on the right hand of the page. All good cars, good specs and low prices. Email something you like and I will get you a quote.

Question I thanks for the list i do like the look of the new focus titanium petrol or diesel 5 door have you got a choice of colours ? and how much would the payments and deposits be also how long would the lease agreement be over ?

Answer I have emailed you the details.

Question I'd like to lease a car for 1 or 2 years and I do not have a deposit. Can you help?

Answer At time4leasing the minimum hire is 2 to 4 years. If you want to hire a car for several months then go to www.hireinuk.com and compare the listed deals.

Question Thank you for your response. Would be interested in renting it for 24 months. How much would that cost per month? ideally no deposit. Me and my mum currently share a car and would be looking to do the same with this. How would that work in terms of leasing? Can my mum put it in her name and then I drive it as well?

Answer Who ever has the best credit history should lease the car if you want a 0% deal. If one person leases the car and insures it the other person becomes a named driver on the insurance policy and is allowed to drive the car too. Some insurance companies allow no claims bonus to both drivers. You can worry about this once you know the registration of the vehicle you are going to lease. If you lease a car for 2 years the monthly payments increase significantly. You can lease the car for 4 years so to get the best possible price but you can hand the car back with no penalties after 2 years. It leaves now, who will be leasing the car? you or your mum?

Question It would be my mum who has the best credit rating so it would go in her name. I would be driving it more than her so if she does not want to get insured straight away and I do are we able to do it that way, or do we both need to be insured the whole time. we would ideally be looking for 2 years, what would it be roughly?

Answer It would be best now to discuss this with an advisor from the team but it will be Monday as the offices are closed on a Sunday. I will resend your quote request but when you speak to the team they should be able to provide the best solution.

Question Ok no problem, so you have the number I need to call on Monday to discuss further. We will need the car asap so keen to get it sorted.

Answer Sorry I don't assign the advisors. The person who will be assigned to you will email or send you a text with full details so to make contact.

Question Many thanks for your help, you are a star.

Question I've being living in UK for 2 years. Perhaps more but I don't know how to prove it. I would like - if possible - a monthly fee all included (road tax, insurance, maintenance, ect.) Pls. help me to find the right solution. Vauxall Insigna is only one of possible cars. I'm looking for a car with automatic gear and bigger enough to carry two golf bags... thanks!

Answer At time4leasing the minimum hire is 2 to 4 years. However, we do have some offers for just 1 year (12 months) but they are limited and very expensive.

To lease a car you need to be in the UK for at least 3 years or more. You can prove this by producing your house or flat rental contract or if you have a mortgage and own your own home, then that will be required.

Other documents that would support your application are: UK Bank Account details, UK Credit or Debt Card, a utilities bill in your name; like BT telephone, a recent bank statement, the new UK driving license, both parts the plastic card and the paper version. If you are running your own business, then your business company house registration is required. If you are an employee then 3 pay slips and details of the company you work for. Also you should be on the UK Electoral and be able to vote. If you do not have at least 3 of the mentioned requirements then I'm afraid you cannot lease a car yet.

QuestionHi, can I have some advice please on best way to get a car for my 19 year old son. He qualified to drive since May 2012. Can insurance be included if possible in the car lease? Looking at a Fiesta maybe or a small car. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Happy to get car in my name and have him as a second driver.

AnswerYour son is best to have his own insurance and not one that is included with a car lease so he can build his own no claims bonus. Insurance for your son could cost you £5000 or more per year or approx. £2000 if he is 19 or so, or £1,000 if he is 21 or even less when he is 25 or more. The cheapest way to get your son a car and insurance is to lease the car in your name if you have good credit history. If your son has good credit history, a steady job and bills in his name then it is better to lease the car in his name. Add the new car to your insurance. If your insurance company does not allow a multi car insurance then shop around for new insurance. Aviva have some really good deals for multi insurance policies. Make your son the main driver for the car lease and you can be the second driver. This way he gets to build his own no claims bonus via your insurance policy. If you have a wife and she has car insurance then you might like to add her as well to your policy or you and your son to your wife's policy. You will save a fortune. I will send you a quote for a Fiesta 1.2 which works out very cheap lease payments and cheap car insurance. If you need any additional information do email me and let me know.

QuestionHi there do your prices include insurance and maintenance like the Nhsfleet?

AnswerHi, our prices do not include maintenance or insurance. However, some prestige vehicles do include maintenance but not insurance. Most of our customers find it cheaper to lease a car from us and get their own insurance. Why do you ask please?

QuestionMe and the wife are just weighing up our options. She works for the Nhs and they offer a all inclusive package but the cars aren't great. The prices however are good.

AnswerSure, you need to weigh things up. Best get a firm quote from one of our selected partners and compare if it works out cheaper compared to an all inclusive offers.

QuestionTrue say. Your credit department emailed me but am not interested in them doing checks on our credit score etc cause the more that's done it effect the scoring. Is credit plus the company that decides what they can offer on regards to the cars

AnswerNo company will do you a deal if they do not first do a credit check. The APR is based on your credit history. The thing with us and our lenders is they only do one credit check but we get 90 lending offers and not 90 checks. If you do not want not even 1 credit check then I suggest to tell your advisor and we will delete your application.

QuestionNo do not delete my application. I want to proceed. What do I do next?

AnswerYou can pick any car from any dealer if you wish and we can broker the finance side of the car lease. Or you can instruct us to find you the car as well as we do get exclusive good offers given to us for your customers.

QuestionWhat about the credit check?

AnswerOur systems say you have already been provisionally accepted so a credit check was not needed at this stage.

QuestionSo where does time4leasing come into all this? and sorry for all these questions.
